American Tower Corporation (ATC), the biggest wireless tower player in Latin America, fell short of its deployment target for the region in 2023. The Massachusetts-based towerco had planned to deploy around 300 towers in Latin America, out of a total of 4,000 worldwide. However, ATC ended the year with only 210 towers built in the region, according to its latest operations and financial report.

Despite this setback, the company reported 1.9% year-on-year LatAm property revenue growth in Q4 to US$435mn, and 6.3% in the full year to US$1.80bn. The region is ATC’s second biggest revenue-generating geography after the US & Canada. The expected churn for this year relates mainly to contract cancellations and lease renegotiations following telco consolidations in Latin America, notably the acquisition of Oi’s mobile business.
