Dish’s Gen Mobile, a prepaid MVNO bought a year ago, has announced four new rate plans designed to provide budget-conscious users with more options.

Gen Mobile reimagines connectivity by delivering high-quality, low-cost wireless services to underserved communities. Earlier this year, Gen Mobile launched its ACP offering which helps make broadband access more affordable for Americans. Currently, only 27% of the 48 million eligible households are enrolled in the program

The cheapest plan costs $20 per month and includes unlimited speaking and text (including unlimited international texting) as well as 3 GB of high-speed data.

There are also $30 monthly plans with unlimited speak and text and 7 GB of high-speed data, $30 monthly plans with unlimited talk and text and 16 GB of high-speed data, and $50 monthly plans with unlimited call and text and unlimited data with up to 10 GB of mobile hotspot data. Both 5G and 4G LTE data will be used in the programs.

“We’re exceptionally proud of the connectivity we’re able to offer our customers in need,” said Robert Yap, founder of Gen Mobile. “Building awareness around the government ACP program has allowed Gen Mobile to become a leader in bridging the digital divide. We are honored to have the opportunity to fill a void for those that are otherwise unable to afford connectivity. Our plans provide great savings to our customers. With inflation being out of control, we want to help our customers keep more of their hard-earned cash”.

However, Gen Mobile’s new rate plans do come with some caveats. For example, the plans do not include domestic or international roaming. Plus, the mobile hot spot and tethering capability are subject to data plan limits. After the allotted data is used, speeds are reduced to 128 kbps.

Dish Network purchased the MVNO in September 2021, and it operates on T-network. Mobile’s Gen Mobile serves customers who qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which offers qualified households a monthly discount of up to $30 on internet connection. To those who qualify, Gen Mobile’s ACP plan offers unlimited call and text as well as 7 GB of data each month.
